An IP address (Internet Protocol) is a unique numeric identifier assigned to every device connected to the Internet. It works like a digital "mailing address" that allows data to reach the correct destination. There are two versions: IPv4 (e.g., 192.168.1.1) and IPv6 (e.g., 2001:0db8::1).
IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses (approximately 4.3 billion combinations), while IPv6 uses 128 bits (virtually unlimited). IPv6 was created to solve the exhaustion of IPv4 addresses and offers better security and performance. Both versions currently coexist on the Internet.
The IP shown on this page is your public IP address, the one your Internet Service Provider (ISP) assigns to you and is visible to the websites you visit. Your local network also uses private IPs (like 192.168.x.x) that are not accessible from the Internet. A router translates between both using NAT.
Your public IP can reveal your approximate location (city/region) and your Internet provider, but not your exact address or identity. Only your ISP can associate an IP with a specific user, and generally does so only upon a court order. Using a VPN hides your real IP.
A dedicated IP is an exclusive IP address assigned to your server or service. Unlike a shared IP (used by multiple sites), a dedicated IP improves email reputation, allows custom SSL certificates, and gives greater control over security. It is ideal for production servers, e-commerce, and critical applications.
All our Cloud VPS plans include a dedicated IP with Anti-DDoS protection from our datacenter in Buenos Aires.
